In Outmind, you can find every SharePoint document you have access to. But if you have access to a document or folder without having access to the SharePoint site that contains it, youâll find it in search but wonât be able to browse its folder structure.
đ What youâll notice
The document shows up in your search results and you can open it.
However, its parent folders and the SharePoint site it belongs to arenât displayed, and you canât navigate the folder structure.
đ¤ Why?
SharePoint lets people share a specific file or folder without granting access to the whole site.
Outmind faithfully mirrors your SharePoint permissions:
you have access to the document, so Outmind shows it to you;
you donât have access to the site or its parent folders, so Outmind doesnât show them.
This isnât a bug: itâs what respecting your access rights means.
â How do I get the folder structure back?
If you need to browse the folders, ask the SharePoint site owner or your Microsoft 365 administrator to give you access to the site (read access at minimum). The folder structure will appear in Outmind after the next permission sync.
đ ď¸ For administrators
This behavior does not depend on the permission granted to the Outmind app (Sites.Read.All or Sites.Selected). Either way, each user sees the documents they have access to, and sees their folder structure only if they also have access to the site.
